In Georgia, in August 2026, thermal power plants produced 316 GWh of electricity, providing about 24% of the total generation. According to TBC Capital, the total output for the month reached 1315 GWh, an increase of 3.8% compared to August 2025.
The main volume of electricity was provided by hydropower – 987 GWh, which is 4.7% more than the figure a year earlier. Thermal generation decreased by 0.2%. Wind power plants produced 10 GWh, an increase of 23.9%, and solar energy – 2.1 GWh.
At the same time, electricity consumption in August amounted to 1265 GWh, a decrease of 3.6% year-on-year. Consumption decreased in all major segments: in the retail sector by 3.3%, among large consumers by 4.5%, and in Abkhazia by 3.1%.
From January to August 2026, electricity production in Georgia increased by 1.1% compared to the same period last year. Consumption for the same period, on the contrary, increased by 2.8%.
