In 2025, Armenia recorded a significant increase in citizenship grants to foreigners: the indicator rose by 23.5% compared to the previous year, reaching 25,670 people. At the same time, the number of applications for renunciation of Armenian citizenship also increased, indicating intensified migration dynamics.
Citizens of Russia became the leaders in obtaining passports – 7,377 people, or almost 29% of the total number of new citizens. They are followed by applicants from Georgia, Syria, Iran, and Turkey, as well as a number of other countries, including the USA, Germany, and Belarus.
Concurrently, 4,906 citizens of Armenia submitted applications for renunciation of citizenship, which is 18% more than a year earlier. The statistics note that the increase in both acquisitions and renunciations is not accompanied by an official explanation of the reasons, leaving the dynamics open to interpretation.
