In the first quarter of 2026, Georgian companies were fined 60,000 GEL ($22.3 thousand) for violating consumer rights. This was reported by the Competition and Consumer Protection Agency, emphasizing increased control over market compliance.

During the reporting period, 142 companies received warnings, and actual fines were imposed on 17 of them. Concurrently, citizen activity significantly increased: from January to April, the agency received 835 appeals, which is 2.1 times more than in the previous year.

The number of calls also sharply increased to 2,553. The agency attributes the rise in appeals to increased consumer awareness and more active use of consumer protection mechanisms amidst the expansion of trade and service offerings.
