In September 2026, Georgia received $285.77 million in remittances — $32 million, or 10%, less than in the same month last year. These data are provided by the National Bank of the country. About half of the receipts came from EU countries.

The sharpest decline was recorded in transfers from Russia: their volume amounted to $7.86 million, a decrease of 80% year-on-year. One of the reasons was the introduction of EU sanctions against the operator of the "Zolotaya Korona" system — the Novosibirsk-based "Payment Center" and "Tsifra Bank". The restrictions were included in the 21st package of sanctions announced on July 23.

The largest source of transfers in September was the USA with $63.39 million (+6%). Italy contributed $53.97 million (-0.2%), Germany - $30.64 million (+2.8%), Greece - $27.57 million (+6%), and Israel - $26.3 million (+13%). This was followed by Turkey - $11.34 million (+10%), Spain - $7.37 million (-4.04%), Great Britain - $6.53 million (+10%), and France - $5.88 million (-3.6%). According to the publication, in the first eight months of 2026, 376 million lari were transferred to Georgia via "Zolotaya Korona".
