The Business Association of Georgia (BAG) published the results of its business climate survey for the first quarter of 2026. The index reached 42.5 points, which is 10.8 points higher than the figure a year earlier. Despite the overall improvement, 55% of companies still cite the shortage of qualified specialists as the main challenge, although this figure has decreased by 10 percentage points compared to the previous quarter.

The problem with personnel is most acutely felt in construction and the service sector. The number of complaints about legal and administrative barriers, as well as labor shortages, has also significantly decreased. 59% of surveyed companies reported various obstacles to doing business – fewer than in previous periods.

65% of companies plan to increase investment in 2026 compared to 2025. Industrialists are the most optimistic (81%), followed by the service and trade sectors (61%) and construction (60%). The BAG index is calculated based on surveys of association members using the methodology of the German ifo Institute.
