In January 2026, Georgia purchased more than 4,800 tonnes of liquefied propane from Russia, setting an absolute monthly record. According to data from the National Statistics Service, analyzed by the TASS agency, the volume of supplies reached 4,811.8 tonnes.
The total value of imports amounted to $2.3 million. Compared with January 2025, the figure increased 2.2 times, becoming the highest result for the entire period of statistical record-keeping.
Overall, by the end of 2025, the volume of propane purchases from Russia reached 39,900 tonnes, increasing by 53.2% year on year. Russia still remains the key supplier of this type of fuel to the Georgian market.
