Solar panels are gaining popularity in the Georgian private sector

It has become profitable for the population

The number of homeowners switching to their own electricity generation has noticeably increased in the country. This is influenced by several factors: the decreasing cost of equipment, the increasing power of modern panels, and the desire of households for stable and predictable sources of electricity.

Solar installations have become significantly more affordable than a few years ago, while their performance has increased. Homeowners can not only fully cover their needs, but also transfer surplus electricity to regional energy companies. This approach reduces the load on the grid and simultaneously increases the financial efficiency of domestic systems.

The use of solar panels enhances the energy independence of the private sector, especially in the event of possible power outages. Electricity consumption in Georgia is steadily growing: in 2024, the country needed 14.4 billion kWh, 5.1% more than the year before.

Currently, most solar panels are produced in China, which accounts for more than 80% of global production. Experts note that the climatic conditions of Georgia allow for the most efficient use of solar energy: on average, there are about 300 clear days a year, which makes the development of private generation particularly promising.
