The Georgian authorities are considering an initiative to ban the import of passenger cars older than six years. The corresponding bill has already been registered in parliament and is under discussion.

If the document is adopted, the import of used cars with a long service life will be restricted. It is assumed that the measure will affect both private buyers and companies involved in the supply of cars from abroad.

It is expected that the new rules may affect the structure of the country's car market, reducing the supply of budget cars and at the same time stimulating the renewal of the car fleet. The specific timing of the initiative coming into force has not yet been disclosed.
