Georgia invests billions in transport

What awaits railways and ports

Georgia plans large-scale investments in transport infrastructure: by 2032, 7 billion GEL ($2.6 billion) will be allocated to the development of the industry. The head of the Ministry of Economy, Mariam Kvrivishvili, announced that special attention will be paid to the modernization of railways and the development of the country's logistics potential.

In 2026, the renewal of the locomotive fleet and the expansion of the rolling stock will begin, while operational processes will be optimized and services will be digitalized. This will reduce travel time on the Tbilisi-Batumi section by 30 minutes by the summer season, and passengers and cargo carriers will feel the improvements in the coming years.

In addition, the republic is starting the active phase of construction of the Anaklia deep-sea port and is completing the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project. These steps are aimed at turning Georgia into a transport hub of the region, increasing cargo traffic and making the country more attractive for international trade.
