Shymkent and Tbilisi connected by direct flight

The new route became a new air route between Georgia and Kazakhstan in 2025

A new direct flight connection has been launched between Kazakhstan and Georgia: the first regular flight of Scat Airlines departed from Shymkent to Tbilisi. This is the fifth air route between the two countries opened during 2025, according to the Georgian Airports Association.

The first plane delivered 166 passengers to the capital of Georgia. At Tbilisi International Airport, the flight was met by representatives of the Georgian authorities and the aviation industry, including Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Khvtisiashvili, the leadership of the Airports Association and TAV Georgia, as well as representatives of the Civil Aviation Agency and the air carrier.

Currently, flights between Georgia and Kazakhstan are operated by three airlines — Air Astana, Scat Airlines and FlyArystan. The new Shymkent–Tbilisi route will be served twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. The Georgian Civil Aviation Administration notes that the expansion of the route network contributes to the growth of passenger traffic and the strengthening of transport links between the countries.
