Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that fines would be written off for all energy companies without exception. According to him, the decision is unique in that it does not provide for differentiation: the write-off will affect all enterprises in the sector, and only if obligations are not fulfilled, the fines may be restored.
Earlier, the government reported that the total amount of written-off fines is about 1 billion lari. The Prime Minister emphasized that companies violating the updated deadlines or conditions will be responsible for new accrued fines and penalties, and previously written-off amounts may be recovered.
Thus, the state seeks to support energy companies while maintaining a mechanism for monitoring compliance with obligations.
