In the historical part of Tbilisi, traffic restrictions are being introduced for a month in one of the city's most important transport hubs. From December 30, work will begin in the Metekhi Tunnel, due to which the passage of transport will be temporarily limited, the capital's City Hall reported. The restrictions will last about a month and will be valid exclusively at night.
The passage will be closed from 00:00 to 06:00 and will affect only one side of the tunnel — from the Nikoloz Baratashvili Bridge in the direction of Ortachala. At the same time, traffic in the opposite direction, from the Baratashvili Bridge to Europe Square, will remain unchanged and will be carried out as usual.
City authorities clarify that the chosen format of restrictions will minimize inconvenience for motorists and will not affect daytime traffic in the center of Tbilisi. The City Hall apologized to residents and guests of the city for the temporary difficulties and urged drivers to take into account the changes when planning routes.
