The implementation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project is entering its final stage: Georgia has announced that work is underway to put the facility into operation.
Lasha Abashidze, General Director of Georgian Railway JSC, noted that preparations are currently underway for all the necessary documents for the official launch of the route.
Abashidze emphasized the importance of the project for Georgia: the railway directly connects the country with Turkey and opens up new opportunities for attracting cargo traffic.
In addition, according to the General Director, the volume of container traffic from China along the route has already increased by 40-50%, and it is expected that growth will continue in the coming years, strengthening Georgia's strategic role in the region's transport logistics.
