The commissioning of a new transport route between Russia and Georgia could increase bilateral trade by at least $500 million. This was stated on SputnikLive by Alexander Karavaev, an expert at the Caspian Institute for Strategic Studies, commenting on the prospects for the development of logistics between the two countries.
According to his estimates, by 2028, the total trade turnover between Russia and Georgia could exceed $3 billion, and the volume of cargo transported could reach 3 million tons per year. A key role in this will be played by the new highway, which will remove bottlenecks in the transport system and ensure more stable communication.
It is expected that the road will give impetus to container transportation and expand the supply of perishable goods. First of all, we are talking about agricultural products, as well as alcoholic beverages, for which the speed and reliability of delivery are critical. Experts believe that the project could become one of the drivers of trade growth in the region.
