Georgia's Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Tamar Ioseliani, announced plans to create one of the most efficient multimodal transport corridors connecting East and West. She made this statement during her speech at the Turkish Maritime Summit.

According to her, the implementation of this strategy requires large investments, regional cooperation, and long-term planning. Georgia, located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, aims to transform its geographical position into a modern transport and logistics hub connecting Central Asia, the South Caucasus, the Black Sea region, and Europe.

By 2032, the country plans to invest about $7 billion in modernizing its transport infrastructure, including maritime, rail, road, and digital segments.

Special attention is paid to the Anaklia deep-water port. The first phase of its development is expected to be completed by 2029, after which its capacity will be at least 600,000 TEU, and the port will be able to accommodate large Panamax-class vessels.

In parallel, the rolling stock of Georgian Railway continues to be updated, and the East-West highway is being constructed, a significant part of which has already been put into operation.
