The cargo terminal of Tbilisi International Airport has almost reached its maximum throughput capacity due to the growth in express delivery volumes. One of the factors contributing to this load was the active entry of the Chinese e-commerce platform Temu into the Georgian market, said Giorgi Kopilashvili, CEO of the company representing UPS in Georgia.
According to him, for express delivery companies, the speed of processing shipments is critical, as goods need to be sorted in the morning and delivered to recipients on the same day. However, the increase in the number of parcels created an additional burden on terminals and complicated the work of market participants. The situation has now stabilized, and customs procedures and goods release are proceeding as usual.
At the same time, UPS notes that further growth in e-commerce will require the expansion of warehouse space, an increase in the capacity of sorting centers, and the introduction of new technologies. According to the Georgian Airport Holding, in the first six months of 2026, the country's airports handled more than 21.5 thousand tons of cargo — 29% more than in the same period last year.
