According to a sector review prepared by Galt & Taggart, Georgia is among the leaders in per capita electricity consumption among countries in the region. According to analysts, the country ranks third, behind Russia and Turkey, but ahead of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

In absolute terms, per capita electricity consumption in Georgia is 3.9 MWh. For comparison, in Russia, the figure reaches 8.2 MWh, in Turkey – 4 MWh, in Armenia – 2.8 MWh, and in Azerbaijan – 2.6 MWh. Analysts note that the gap with neighboring countries remains significant, but Georgia confidently maintains a high position in the regional ranking.

The growth in overall electricity consumption in the country is separately emphasized. In 2025, it amounted to 14.9 TWh against 13.8 TWh a year earlier and 13.1 TWh in 2023. The forecast for 2026–2035 suggests further growth of 3.4% annually on average, reaching a level of about 20 TWh. At the same time, in 2025, electricity generation was estimated at 13.8 TWh, imports – 1.6 TWh, exports – 0.5 TWh, and installed capacity reached 4.8 GW.
