Energy tariffs in Georgia will be revised

Commission announces date for new electricity price review

In Georgia, electricity tariffs will be revised on March 30 by the Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission. It was previously discussed that the revision would take place at the end of last year, but the head of the commission, David Narmania, stated that the adjustment is necessary for infrastructure development, so the issue was postponed for three months at the direction of Prime Minister Kobakhidze.

The last tariff adjustment was carried out in 2023, when prices for commercial and domestic consumption were reduced by 3 tetri. Currently, in Tbilisi, the tariffs are: up to 101 kWh – 15 tetri, 101–301 kWh – 19 tetri, over 301 kWh – 23.5 tetri. In the regions, the prices are slightly different – 14.731, 15.707 and 23.227 tetri respectively.

Residents of high-mountainous regions, such as Akhalkalaki, are eligible for benefits: 50% of the electricity consumed is subsidized, but not more than 100 kWh. This means that when consuming up to 200 kWh, half of the payment is covered by a subsidy, and when consuming over 200 kWh, only 100 kWh is covered. The new tariff revision may adjust both regional prices and the amount of subsidies.
