Georgia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Romania plan to create a new transport route "Black Sea - Caspian Sea"

Countries in the region are preparing a new transit corridor

Georgia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Romania intend to launch a new international transport route "Black Sea - Caspian Sea". This is stated in the resolution of the Georgian government, adopted on December 8. The project aims to develop alternative logistics chains and strengthen the transit potential of the region.

Details of the future route have not yet been disclosed, but it is assumed that it will cover both sea and land sections, connecting the ports of the Black Sea with the Caspian region. Such a corridor could complement existing destinations and offer new opportunities for the transport of goods between Europe and Central Asia.

According to unofficial information, the idea of creating the route was discussed on December 12 during the visit of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to Turkmenistan. It is expected that in the near future the parties will begin more substantive negotiations and present details of the project, including the format of cooperation and possible timing of its implementation.
