Georgia Expands Its Skies: Etihad, Condor, and Scandinavian Airlines Enter the Country

New international flights will commence in spring and summer 2026 amid record passenger traffic

In 2026, three new airlines will enter the Georgian aviation market. From March to June, Etihad Airways, Condor Airlines, and a major Scandinavian carrier from Norway will begin flights to the country. This was announced by the government's economic bloc, noting that the expansion of the route network is occurring against the backdrop of sustained growth in passenger traffic.

The most significant entry is planned by the UAE's national airline, Etihad Airways. From March 1, 2026, the company intends to launch flights on the Abu Dhabi — Tbilisi — Abu Dhabi route with a frequency of up to 14 flights per week. German airline Condor Airlines will return to Georgia on June 15, opening a regular direct connection between Frankfurt and Tbilisi. In addition, direct flights from Tbilisi to Copenhagen will start on June 27, operating twice a week.

The expansion of international routes is supported by statistics: in January–November 2025, Georgian airports served approximately 7.9 million passengers, which is 14% more than the previous year. The market leader remains Wizz Air with a 17% share, followed by Georgian Airways with 8%, and Pegasus and Turkish Airlines, each holding about 7%. The new carriers could significantly increase competition and improve the accessibility of air travel in 2026.
