Remittances to Georgia fell by 10% in a year

Receipts from Russia decreased by 80% amid sanctions

In September 2026, Georgia received $285.77 million in remittances — $32 million, or 10%, less than in the same month last year. These data are provided by the National Bank of the country. About half of the receipts came from EU countries.

The sharpest decline was recorded in transfers from Russia: their volume amounted to $7.86 million, a decrease of 80% year-on-year. One of the reasons was the introduction of EU sanctions against the operator of the "Zolotaya Korona" system — the Novosibirsk-based "Payment Center" and "Tsifra Bank". The restrictions were included in the 21st package of sanctions announced on July 23.
