Georgia's trade with Belarus sharply increased in the first half of 2026. Total trade turnover reached $141.8 million against $70.9 million a year earlier, almost doubling.

The main reason was the rapid growth of imports from Belarus. In six months, Georgia purchased Belarusian goods worth $122.6 million — more than twice last year's $52.3 million. At the same time, almost half of the imports were oil and petroleum products, amounting to $50.8 million.

The second largest category was lumber — $10.9 million, and the third — concentrated milk and cream at $10.7 million. Significant volumes also accounted for wood panels, ethyl alcohol, beef, butter, dairy products, live cattle, and furniture.

At the same time, Georgia's exports to Belarus remained almost unchanged. From January to June, they amounted to $19.1 million against $18.5 million a year earlier. The main export goods were strong alcoholic beverages and wine.

Thus, the increase in bilateral trade occurred predominantly due to Belarusian supplies, while Georgian exports remained almost at the same level.
