Georgia has strengthened the protection of railway passengers' rights. The country's Ministry of Economy has approved new rules that establish mandatory compensation for train delays caused by "Georgian Railway".

If a train is delayed by 60–119 minutes, the passenger must be refunded at least 25% of the ticket price. For delays of two hours or more, compensation will be at least 50% of the fare, if the ticket has not been fully refunded.

If it becomes clear during the journey that arrival will be delayed by more than an hour, the passenger can choose a full refund, continuation of the journey, or a change of route.

The regulations also define citizens' rights in case of cancellations and changes of routes, loss or damage of luggage. The railway is obliged to inform passengers in a timely manner, and services must be accessible to people with disabilities.

The Railway Transport Agency will monitor compliance with the new requirements. It will be able to conduct inspections, issue mandatory instructions, and apply administrative measures. A passenger who disagrees with the railway's decision or has not received a response to a complaint on time will be able to contact the agency directly.
