Georgia ranked second among its neighboring countries for taxi services. According to an updated study by the international database Numbeo, the average price per kilometer for a taxi ride in the country is $0.71.

In the global ranking, which covers 99 states, Georgia is in 76th place. Among its closest neighbors, only Turkey has higher fares – there, the cost per kilometer of a ride reaches $0.85.

For comparison, in Azerbaijan, the average cost per kilometer for a taxi is $0.59, in Russia – $0.45, and in Armenia – $0.43. Thus, Armenia remains the most affordable country among Georgia's neighbors by this indicator.

Meanwhile, European countries became the world leaders in taxi expensiveness. In Switzerland, the average cost per kilometer of a ride reaches $4.70, in Luxembourg – $4.06, and in Albania – $3.67.

Although Georgia did not make it into the list of the world's most expensive countries, its position within the region turned out to be unexpectedly high – taxi rides here are noticeably more expensive than in most neighboring countries.
