In Batumi, a decision has been made to bring back electric scooter and children's electric car rentals to the city boulevard after a temporary ban that caused active disputes between authorities and business representatives. Initially, restrictions were imposed due to safety complaints, but it was not possible to completely remove this segment of services from the embankment.
The conflict escalated with the start of the tourist season, when the revenues of rental companies were threatened. For many entrepreneurs, this business is seasonal and provides income for dozens of families. Pressure from the industry and the public ultimately forced the city administration to reconsider its approach and seek a compromise solution.
At the same time, safety issues remain key. Earlier, complaints were recorded about chaotic movement of electric transport, speeding, and conflicts with pedestrians. According to discussed data, in just one summer month, about 25 fines were issued for violations, and the total number of incidents over several months approached 70 cases, which was the reason for the initial ban.
