The government's initiative to establish a Diplomacy Academy has already been submitted to parliament as a bill and involves amendments to the Law "On Diplomatic Service".
The institution will be granted the status of a public law legal entity and will be under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which will also provide its funding and oversight.
The Academy plans to launch educational programs in political science and international relations at the bachelor's and master's levels, as well as one-year advanced training courses. Graduates of the latter format will be eligible for diplomatic positions after appropriate certification.
Authorities note that the country's existing universities do not provide sufficient practical training for future diplomats, hence the need for a separate specialized training system.
Student admissions are planned to begin in 2027: an intake of 70 students for bachelor's programs and 50 for master's programs is expected. The formation of a staff of 46 employees and the approval of a separate budget are also envisioned, with parliament considering the bill under an expedited procedure.
