A sharp increase in car imports is creating significant strain on Georgia's port infrastructure.

Irakli Kukhianidze, founder of Car Mark, stated that if large batches of cars arrive simultaneously, the ports of Poti and Batumi could be on the verge of overload.

According to him, the flow of cars has already begun to grow after changes in excise policy, which encouraged buyers to order cars more actively from abroad. The first batch has already arrived, but cargo processing is accompanied by delays. Companies and terminals are working to coordinate flows and free up container areas.

Industry representatives note that in the event of a further increase in supplies, difficulties with unloading and temporary congestion in ports are possible. Expanding storage areas and accelerating customs clearance procedures are being considered as measures, but experts acknowledge that with a sharp increase in imports, the infrastructure may operate at its limit.
