After booking opened for the Baku-Tbilisi passenger train, over 1000 tickets were sold. According to Azerbaijan Railways, demand was almost evenly distributed between directions: over 400 tickets were sold for services from Baku and over 500 from Tbilisi.

The high popularity of the route led to an overload of online booking systems and temporary delays in ticket office operations. In response to the increased interest, the railway management decided to increase the train composition by adding extra carriages.

Passenger transportation between Georgia and Azerbaijan is planned to resume on May 26, 2026. Experts note that the restoration of the route could strengthen regional transport connectivity and stimulate tourist flow between the two countries.
