In Georgia, from January to April 2026, electricity imports reached almost 1.1 billion kWh. According to the State Electrosystem, Russia remains the largest supplier, providing 748 million kWh, a significant portion of which was directed to the needs of Abkhazia.
Turkey ranked second with approximately 203 million kWh, reflecting strengthening energy ties between the countries. Georgia also imported about 118.5 million kWh from Azerbaijan and about 63 million kWh from Armenia.
According to statistics, the country's electricity import costs increased by 54% and reached 37.6 million dollars. Meanwhile, the structure of supplies continues to change: Turkey has for the first time become one of the key import destinations, whereas previously it primarily served as an export market for Georgian electricity.
