The Georgian government has announced the establishment of the Georgian Academy of Diplomacy – a new departmental educational institution that will train specialists for the country's foreign policy service. This was stated by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at a government meeting.

According to the head of the Cabinet, the academy will be under direct state subordination, which will ensure a higher level of personnel training, combining theory and practice of diplomatic work. The authorities believe that existing university programs do not yet fully meet the requirements of modern diplomatic service.

Kobakhidze noted that similar departmental institutions are already successfully operating in the country – the Georgian Defense Academy, the Ministry of Internal Affairs Academy, and the Security Academy. Against this background, the creation of a new structure is seen as a continuation of the model of specialized state education.

The Academy of Diplomacy is expected to begin operations after all approval procedures and permits are completed. The authorities expect that the project will strengthen the human resources potential of the foreign policy department and increase the effectiveness of the country's international representation.
