Georgia Increases Output at Its Sole Kartli Wind Farm

Despite the growth, the country still relies on electricity imports

In Georgia, electricity generation at the Kartli wind farm, the country's only wind power facility, increased in 2025. According to the energy market operator ESCO, the station generated 79.4 million kWh, which is 2.3% more than the previous year.

Meanwhile, the total volume of electricity production in the country amounted to 13.8 billion kWh. Hydropower plants traditionally provide the main share – 10.9 billion kWh, while thermal power plants added another 2.7 billion kWh. The Kartli wind farm, with a capacity of 20 MW, remains the only wind power facility in the country and is located near the city of Gori.

Despite the growth in domestic generation, Georgia still does not fully cover its own electricity needs: consumption for the year reached 14.9 billion kWh. This maintains the country's dependence on external supplies and makes the development of new energy sources a strategic direction.
