Georgia and China Open New Air Bridge: Tbilisi - Shanghai Flights Launch

Direct connection with China's largest metropolis to start in July, three times a week

Starting July 15, direct regular flights will operate between Tbilisi and Shanghai. The decision was made following a meeting between Georgia's Minister of Economy, Mariam Kvrivishvili, and the management of China Eastern Airlines during her visit to China.

According to the agreement, the airline will operate flights on the Shanghai–Tbilisi–Shanghai route three times a week. Georgian authorities call the launch of this route an important step to strengthen economic, business, and tourism ties between the countries.

According to the Ministry of Economy, direct air travel with the largest Chinese hub will boost tourist flow, expand business contacts, and could bring additional revenue to the country's economy. Georgia's participation in the ITB China 2026 tourism exhibition in Shanghai, where it plans to promote its tourism potential, is also highlighted.
