In Georgia, a new surge in fuel prices has been recorded in recent days — since March 31, the cost of gasoline and diesel has increased by 6–20 tetri. At a number of branded gas stations, prices have already approached the 4 GEL mark, which has become one of the most noticeable increases in recent times.

The main reason is the situation in the Middle East and disruptions in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant part of world oil supplies passes. The escalation of the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran has led to a sharp decrease in tanker traffic, which has directly affected global oil prices.

The growth in international markets began to affect Georgian prices in early March, after which the cost of fuel increased in stages. Current dynamics show that the domestic market remains sensitive to external factors, and further changes will depend on the development of the geopolitical situation.
