From April 1, residents of Tbilisi will pay more for electricity, and from July 1, the increase will affect the entire country. The decision of the energy and water supply regulatory commission is related to the need to modernize power grids and ensure stable supplies.
For consumers, tariffs will change as follows: up to 101 kWh per month - from 15.04 to 20.04 tetri per kWh, up to 301 kWh - from 19.05 to 24.05 tetri, over 301 kWh - from 23.54 to 28.54 tetri. The commission emphasized that the increase will avoid accidents and improve the quality of supply, and without investment, the losses for consumers and businesses would be greater.
According to Grigol Mamiseishvili from ENERGO-PRO Georgia, the company plans to invest 200 million lari ($74 million) annually for five years to modernize the network, which will ensure long-term stability and growth of the sector.
