In Georgia, from April 1st, a ban is introduced on the import, primary and temporary registration of M1 category passenger cars older than six years. According to Nino Tandilashvili, the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the new rules apply to cars imported for personal use.

From the specified date, only cars no older than six years and complying with the Euro-5 environmental standard, which has been in effect in the country for two years, can be registered. If transportation began before April 1st and this is documented, registration is possible even after the ban comes into force.

In the absence of confirmation of the start of transportation, the car will be allowed to be imported, but it will not be possible to register it. According to Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the corresponding bill has already been prepared and sent to parliament.
