The Tbilisi authorities have approved the 2026 budget in the amount of 2.2 billion GEL ($822 million), with almost a third of the funds - about $260 million - going to the development of transport. The main part of the investment will be directed to the construction of a new tram line and the restoration of cable cars, which promises to radically change the urban transport landscape.
In addition to the transport sector, this year the city plans to spend $114 million on relocating residents from dilapidated housing, and almost $100 million has been allocated for the construction of kindergartens. Healthcare will receive about $70 million to modernize infrastructure and improve the quality of services.
The 2026 budget demonstrates Tbilisi's commitment to the integrated development of the city, where transport, social facilities and the medical sector will be modernized simultaneously, which should improve the comfort and safety of residents.
