Georgia Declares War on Loud Cars: Fines for Noise Introduced from 2026

New rules will affect all drivers whose cars exceed the permissible noise level

From January 1, 2026, Georgia will begin fining drivers for excessive noise from cars. The corresponding changes will come into force within the framework of the Code of Administrative Offenses and will apply to the operation of vehicles whose noise level exceeds the established standards.

The first violation carries a fine of 100 GEL. If the driver is repeatedly caught exceeding the permissible noise level, the fine will increase to 200 GEL. In the case of a third violation, the penalty will be 300 GEL, which makes systematic ignoring of the requirements noticeably more expensive.

The new measures are aimed at reducing noise pollution in cities and increasing comfort for residents. The law officially comes into force on January 1, 2026, after which traffic police officers will have the right to record violations and bring drivers to justice.
