Georgia's transport and logistics sector showed record results for the last decade in the first eight months of 2026. Seaports and terminals handled 13.7 million tons of cargo – 24% more than the previous year. At the same time, the volume of container traffic reached 554,174 TEU, an increase of 9%, also setting a ten-year high.

Rail freight transportation for the same period increased by 11%, to 9.7 million tons. Transit flow increased particularly significantly – by 14%. These indicators highlight Georgia's growing role in international logistics and the development of the "Middle Corridor" passing through the country, connecting Asian and European markets.

A record was also recorded in air cargo transportation: airports handled 29.3 thousand tons of cargo, which is 30% higher than last year's figure. The country's international airports served 5.7 million passengers – 1% more year-on-year and also the best result for the last 10 years for January-August. At the same time, August became a record month for passenger traffic in the entire history of observations.
