Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Bulgaria are discussing the creation of a land corridor for electricity transit. Negotiations on the project are already underway, said Georgian Deputy Minister of Economy Inga Phaladze.
According to her, the initiative will allow Georgia to use its strategic geographical position and turn the country into an energy hub of the South Caucasus. It is planned to organize electricity supplies from neighboring states to European countries through Georgian territory.
The government representative noted that the project could for the first time provide a direct energy connection between Georgia and Europe, which was previously absent due to geographical limitations.
In addition to its transit function, the corridor should create new opportunities for the export of Georgian electricity. According to Phaladze, the development of such infrastructure will contribute to the growth of the country's energy sector and the emergence of new opportunities for local businesses.
