Georgia has significantly improved the efficiency of its seaports. As Tamar Ioseliani, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, stated, in the first half of 2026, ship waiting times decreased from 24 hours to approximately one hour, which was made possible by the digitalization of processes and the modernization of port infrastructure.
According to her, in the first six months of the year, the total tonnage of vessels served by Georgian ports increased by approximately 20%. This was facilitated by the ability to accommodate larger vessels, which increased the throughput capacity of terminals and improved their operational efficiency.
One of the key factors was the continuous dredging work in port waters and shipping channels. In addition, the authorities, together with port operators, significantly simplified administrative procedures and introduced the "single window" principle, reducing the number of bureaucratic operations.
The Ministry of Economy notes that the changes made strengthen Georgia's position as one of the key logistics hubs of the Middle Corridor, increasing its attractiveness for international cargo transportation and transit routes between Europe and Asia.
