Georgia Prepares Airport of the Future: French Groupe ADP to Invest $150 Million in Expansion of Tbilisi Hub

After modernization, the country's main airport will be able to accommodate up to 10 million passengers per year - almost double the current level.

A major project to expand Tbilisi International Airport has started in Georgia. The program will be implemented by TAV Georgia, a subsidiary of TAV Airports, part of the French aviation group Groupe ADP. The total investment will amount to $150 million.

The modernization will increase the airport's annual capacity from the current 5 million to 10 million passengers. The works will include the expansion of the passenger terminal, the development of aerodrome infrastructure, the updating of technological systems, and the introduction of new solutions to improve service quality.

The project is scheduled for 2026–2028. After the reconstruction is completed, the airport will be able to serve a significantly larger passenger flow and meet modern international standards.

The need for expansion is due to the rapid growth of Georgia's aviation market. In 2025, Tbilisi International Airport set a historical record, serving 5.4 million passengers, almost reaching the limit of its current capabilities.

The new infrastructure should ensure the further development of tourism, increase opportunities for international transportation, and strengthen Tbilisi's position as one of the key aviation hubs in the region.
