In January–September 2026, Georgia imported 7,443 cars from China with a total value of $71.1 million. This is an all-time record in the history of available statistics, which have been kept since 2009. Compared to the same period last year, the number of imported vehicles increased by 65%, and their total value rose by 75.9%. For comparison, in 2025 imports amounted to 4,520 cars worth $40.4 million, and in 2024, only 2,024 cars worth $30.9 million.
At the same time, the average cost of Chinese cars also increased. While a year ago it was around $8,900, it has now reached $9,600. However, the overall situation in Georgia’s automotive market is developing differently: in nine months, passenger car imports decreased by 12% in terms of volume and by 13.3% in monetary terms. In total, 161,815 cars worth $2.65 billion were imported into the country, compared to 183,952 cars worth $3.06 billion a year earlier.

Re-exports also declined: during the reporting period, 63,141 cars worth $1.53 billion were exported from Georgia. This is approximately 24% lower than last year’s figures, when 82,529 cars worth $2 billion were exported.
