Georgia earned more than $100 million from gold exports

The rising price of the precious metal allowed the country to earn a quarter more than a year earlier.

In January–September 2026, Georgia exported about 1 ton of gold worth $111.44 million. This is 28.9% more in monetary terms than in the same period last year, when exports were valued at $86.4 million. At the same time, the physical volume of shipments decreased by about 600 kg. Thus, the rise in global prices for the precious metal compensated for the decline in exports.

Switzerland became the largest buyer of Georgian gold: about 900 kg worth $100.05 million were shipped there. The UAE ranked second with purchases of $8.67 million. Deliveries were also made to Turkey ($1.81 million), Hong Kong ($873.8 thousand), and Kuwait ($13.5 thousand).

At the same time, Georgia increased its gold imports to $4.28 million, compared to just $6.6 thousand a year earlier. Germany became the main supplier with a volume of $3.75 million, followed by the Netherlands ($336.9 thousand). As a result, over the nine months, the value of Georgian gold exports exceeded imports by approximately 26 times.
