Georgia is building a giant bridge 166 meters high

The arch structure, over 400 meters long, will be part of the new Kvesheti-Kobi highway, which should make the key route towards Russia more reliable

Construction continues in Georgia on a unique arch bridge 166 meters high and over 400 meters long. The structure will be part of the new 23-kilometer Kvesheti-Kobi road, leading to the Verkhny Lars checkpoint on the border with Russia. In total, the project includes five bridges and five tunnels, including the already completed 9-kilometer tunnel.

The new highway is of particular importance for Armenia, as one of the main routes for road transport to Russia passes through Georgian territory. The modern road should increase the reliability of communication and reduce dependence on difficult weather conditions on the existing section.

In winter, traffic through Verkhny Lars is regularly complicated by snowfalls, avalanche danger, and other natural factors, which can lead to multi-day delays for cargo transport. The new infrastructure is designed to ensure more stable passage and reduce travel time through this important transport corridor.
