Car imports from China to Georgia continue to grow rapidly. According to Geostat, from January to August 2026, 6,189 Chinese-made cars with a total value of $59.997 million were supplied to the country. In physical terms, this is almost 60% more than the result for the same period in 2025, when imports amounted to 3,869 cars worth $33.435 million. This figure became the maximum for the first eight months in recent years.
The growth began even earlier: from January to August 2024, 1,801 cars worth $28.412 million were imported from China to Georgia, in 2023 — 1,031 cars worth $13.102 million, and in 2022 — only 835 cars worth $6.638 million. China currently ranks third among the largest suppliers of passenger cars to the Georgian market.
At the same time, the average cost of a car imported from China is also increasing. For the first eight months of 2026, it was about $9.7 thousand, compared to $8.6 thousand a year earlier. However, the total import of passenger cars to Georgia decreased: 146,458 cars worth $2.364 billion against 162,603 cars worth $2.703 billion for the same period in 2025.
