Georgia's international reserves reached $8.14 billion by the end of August, exceeding the $8 billion mark for the first time. According to the National Bank of Georgia, the regulator acquired $555.6 million on the Bmatch currency platform in just one month.
Since the beginning of 2026, the National Bank's net volume of currency purchases on Bmatch amounted to $3.122 billion. The regulator explains such operations by the need to replenish international reserves given a favorable situation in the foreign exchange market.
The National Bank notes that international reserves are one of the key instruments for maintaining the country's macroeconomic stability. Under suitable market conditions, the regulator continues to purchase foreign currency, increasing the volume of available financial reserves.
