Singapore's Changi Airports International intends to participate in the international tender to select an operator for the new Tbilisi International Airport in Vaziani. This became known after meetings between the company's CEO, Eugene Goh, and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Minister of Economy Mariam Kvrivishvili. The parties discussed prospects for cooperation and the development of the country's aviation sector.

According to the project, the new airport in Vaziani will be able to serve up to 20 million passengers per year. The Georgian side attributes Changi Airports International's interest to the rapid growth of tourism and air travel. According to the government, 7.8 million international travelers visited Georgia last year, and tourism revenues reached $4.7 billion. Currently, about 80 airlines connect the country with more than 140 international destinations.

The meetings also discussed the exchange of international experience in the aviation industry and further cooperation. Changi Airports International is part of Changi Airport Group and specializes in the management and development of airports outside Singapore. In July, Kobakhidze had already met with the company's management during a working visit to Singapore.
