The construction of the Anaklia deep-water port in Georgia has entered an active phase. According to Tamar Ioseliani, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, the scale of the project is already becoming evident. Currently, two dredger vessels are working in the water area, deepening the seabed, while breakwater construction continues in parallel.

The second dredger, Al-Idrisi, has already started operations, following the vessel Tristao Da Cunha. Deepening the water area should create conditions for further development of port infrastructure and the reception of large-tonnage vessels. The Georgian government believes that the new port can significantly strengthen the country's position on the Black Sea.

According to Ioseliani, Anaklia is of strategic importance not only for Georgia but for the entire region. The project should increase the country's competitiveness and strengthen its role within the Middle Corridor. Work is proceeding according to the approved schedule, and authorities expect the port to be fully operational by 2029.
