Georgia intends to introduce new rules for the use of electric scooters by minors. The government plans to submit relevant amendments to the Law "On Road Traffic" to parliament during the autumn session of 2026, bm.ge reports.
The exact restrictions for children and teenagers are not yet specified. The government explains the need for changes by problems with safety and compliance with traffic rules when using electric scooters.
MIA statistics show that the problem remains significant. In 2025, 106 accidents involving electric scooters occurred in Georgia. As a result, 109 people were injured, and one person died.
In the first half of 2026, 28 such accidents were registered. 33 people were injured, and two more died.
The authorities expect that the new rules will help improve the safety of underage electric scooter users and reduce the number of accidents.
