The Black Sea Petroleum (BSP) refinery in Kulevi has started receiving Libyan oil, finally completing its transition away from Russian raw materials. The tanker "Kriti Legend" arrived in Georgia from Libya on August 28 and began unloading.
BSP confirmed on August 25 that it had completely abandoned Russian oil and, since August 24, has been working exclusively with non-Russian raw materials.
The transition began in July when the plant started receiving and processing oil from Kazakhstan. These supplies are already reflected in Georgia's official foreign trade statistics.
Earlier, BSP reported that from August, it would be able to completely replace Russian raw materials due to increased supplies from Kazakhstan. The next stage was to be supplies from Libya, which have now begun.
In addition, the company has signed a long-term agreement with Libya for oil supply, valid until the end of 2027. Thus, the Kulevi refinery has switched to diversified supplies from Kazakhstan and Libya, completely excluding Russian oil.
